Ikebana Vase

The principles of ikebana are: Silence, Minimalism, and Shape.

When I threw these pieces, I didn’t have an Ikebana vase in mind. They were just vessels that felt good to throw! It wasn’t until I was gifted the ikebana frog- the metal piece that sits in the middle of the vase holding the flowers, that I knew exactly what these vessels were meant to be!

I’ve extended their use to also be a pot for propagation or to hold dried flowers, both uses allowing the shape of the vessel to be seen and the function to still uphold the Ikebana principles.
